Founded in 1932, Nina Ricci has remained one of the most prestigious fashion houses in all of France. Madame Ricci established it along with her son, Robert, when they decided that setting up their own haute couture house was a lucrative business idea with many opportunities. Madame Ricci took the role of a fashion designer, while Robert was the one who handled the business, including the finances.

They started working with fabrics, creating their own lines of feminine designs. After a few months from inception, their business grew under the name Nina Ricci, already known to the fashion industry as one of the best producers of romantic and refined fashion pieces.

The success of Nina Ricci can be attributed much to Robert’s effort. In 1945, he came up with the idea of exhibiting the best dresses ever made. With the help of the President of the Chamber, Lucien Lelong, Robert was able to dress more than a hundred mannequins from forty prestigious couturiers in the whole of France.

Madame Gres and Balenciaga were even included in that exhibition held in Louvre, Paris. This fashion showcase is what allowed the designs of Nina Ricci to reach other areas of Europe and even the United States.

After a few years of success, Nina Ricci began offering a line of luxury perfumes for the affluent. Robert was the creator of these fragrances, and he created this new line of products just to cope with the company’s expansion.

The first perfume made by him was named Coeur Jolie, and this was followed by another, the L’Air du Temps. This latter fragrance is the one considered by most consumers as the most delicate. It even remains as Nina Ricci’s top seller until these days.

The Coeur Jolie, on its first release, was valued not just for the delicate scent it emits but also for the great packaging that Nina Ricci has made. The perfume was contained in a crystal bottle that is frosted. The bottle was crafted by Marc Lalique and it features illustrations made by Christian BZrard.

This fragrance is made of sweet smelling flowers, the one that sets Nina Ricci apart from the rest of France’s creative perfumery. The L’Air du Temps, which means “mood of the times”, became France’s most classic perfume product ever created.

In 1959, new designs emerged then bringing Nina Ricci to new heights. The house acquired an international honor mainly for the success of one of its new collections, the Jules-Francois Crahay. This line was consolidated a few years after by GZrard Pipart, who took the new management over the haute couture studio in the year 1964. That same year, the L’Air du Temps was distributed and marketed not just in the whole Paris, but also in the major markets in the United States and Japan.

The perfumes of Nina Ricci continued to develop even after the death of Madame Ricci in 1970. The company was then considered as the leading exporter of fragrances in France. The production was even increased with the establishment of Ury Perfume Production Center where the known Farouche perfume was formulated. The company made several other fragrances, and this production is expected to increase with more and more people and technologies now being used for better results.

A real woman should have a lot of favorite perfume bottles – for different situations, different time of day, season and mood. Of course, a good perfume is expensive. Unfortunately, perfume market has a lot of fakes now, and sometimes the high price – is not a guarantee of quality. That is why you need to choose your fragrance very carefully and buy it only in good stores.
The easiest way to verify the authenticity of perfume – ask the seller a certificate of quality. However, it is not always possible to do this, but you can always follow the advice of how to distinguish a forgery visually.

Packaging
First of all, read the packaging of perfume or toilet water. On the forgery you can see different types of striking unclear printing design, for example – too small or vague inscriptions. You must remember – inscriptions on the original are always clear and tidy.
Packaging should be strong, made from cardboard or good quality paper. It should has thin (but not fat!) cellophane skintight box without wrinkles, it does not exceed the size of the box, glue is not visible. However, some producers do not use cellophane, with an emphasis on the original packaging and bottles, an effort to combat counterfeiting. By the way, beautiful expensive bottles are not just a way of expression and draw attention of customers, but also a guarantee of authenticity, the process of making a copy of such bottles is too complicated.

Inscriptions
Carefully check the inscriptions – names and details about the producer. Many producers of fakes often add extra letters in the name or change the position. For example, you can find Clema instead of Climat, Cool Winter instead of Cool Water, Genzo instead of Kenzo. The original bottle of perfume always contains the information about the country of production, date of manufacture, expiration date, and the composition of the product.

Barcode
French perfumes barcode begins with a figure «3», Great Britain – 50, Germany – 400-440, Spain – 84, Italy – 80-83, France – 30-37, United States and Canada – 00-09. At the bottom of the code you can see a serial number – the code of letters and numbers, which must necessarily coincide with the code on the bottle.

Bottle
The original glass bottle is clean and transparent; there should be no roughness, cloudiness and air balls. This perfume must not have any metal lids – such contact ruins the scent. The bottle can not be loosed inside the case, it should be pretty tight, and the applicator is usually protected with a metal ring. The requirement of transparency applies to the liquid. It must be clear. Usually the color of the fragrance ranges from pale to dark yellow. Sometimes the colors are achieved with the help of greenish, pinkish, or purple colors, but striking “chemical” color looks suspicion – if you see the fragrance of famous brands, but a bright blue or red – it is fake.

Price
Unfortunately, nowadays you can get a very good forgery, even if you are buying it in a good store is not yet a guarantee of its authenticity. Never buy a perfume on a street market, groceries, or small stores of perfume and cosmetics, and pay attention to the price, if it looks too “attractive – most likely you will buy a forgery.

Check resistance
The original perfume usually has long-lasting scent depending on the type and concentration of aromatic components.
Do you know what is the difference between the”parfum” , the “eau de parfum” and the ”eau de toilette”? First of all the perfume is more expensive. It contains 30-40 percent of the aromatic oils and therefore have the most powerful and concentrated scent, and because of the high concentration it’s enough to use just one or two drops. The aroma stays on your skin for 6-9 hours. It is better to use it as evening scent.
In the daytime enjoy perfume water (eau de parfum). It has almost the same scent as the perfume, but less concentrated. The concentration of essential oils in the toilet water is much less – 8-14%. The aroma stays on your skin for about 4-5 hours.
The most light and less lasting is toilet water (eau de toilette). The content of essential oils in it – 3-8%, you have to use it every two to three hours. But it is ideal for summer time, office and other situations where a strong fragrance is not appropriate.

Helpful Tip
Choosing the flavor comes from the time of year and mood. For the winter time, late autumn find richer, warm aromas that will warm you in cold weather. Usually they have notes of jasmine, honey, sandalwood, vanilla, cinnamon and other spices.
