Top Perfumes And Fragrances

Creating a sensual appeal…wearing an invisible yet alluring “second skin” comprised of exotic scent captured in perfumes and men’s fragrances continues to push the olfactory and poetic edges. How can you gain this aromatic and romantic edge and what should you look for?

Tip #1 – Choosing The Perfect Women’s Perfumes Eau de Toilette And Fragrances. Going to work…or going to a formal engagement? Are you young and experimental or mature and established? There’s always a woman’s fragrance that matches your skin chemistry, your outfit, the occasion and even your mood.

* Top Notes. Women’s fragrances combine scent chemistry into three distinct perfume “notes”…the top note scent is the 1st impression scent which often includes light, sharp or sweet essences such as ylang-ylang, neroli and aldehydes found in one of the first modern-era perfumes, Chanel No.5. When the top notes melt away after the first hour or so, the middle notes and bass notes dominate the scent structure.

* Middle Notes. While international favorite Chanel No.5 uses ylang-ylang in its top note, slightly “heavier” women’s perfumes like Angel by Thiery Mugler incorporate ylang-ylang into the middle note structure, along with jasmine, white gardenia (think Billy Holiday), magnolia and Moroccan rose.

* Bass Notes. For all the exotic and sophisticated impression created by the middle and top notes, the top women’s perfumes balance their entire scent strategy upon the strength, and complexity, of the bass notes or scent foundation. Strength…lasting scent and potency over 3 to 9 hours…all can evolve from the perfume foundation bass notes such as vetiver, amber, musk, sandalwood, vanilla and occasionally light derivatives from the men’s fragrance world including rosewood, tonka bean.

Tip #2 – Selecting Masculine Men’s Fragrances For Complexity, Earthiness, Tang. Men’s fragrance, cologne and even full bodied perfumes are known to be earthy, dark…evoking masculine strength and staying power. But what do you look for?

* Avoid Light, Fruity Feminine Scents. First clue is to avoid the sweet, flowery essences. Instead, look for men’s fragrance that carries solid bass notes such as Chanel Egoiste, the 2006 award winner for men, offering a rich warm subdued bass note blend of vanilla, sandalwood and rosewood in a subtle wood-Oriental. Or, take a deeper step into the masculine scent world with a mix of bass notes of tobacco, capiscum, nutmeg, pepper, tonka bean…supporting middle notes of vetiver and cedar…and then throw in a splash of top note bergamot, lemon, coriander and neroli as designed into Vetiver by Guerlain.

Tip #3 – Re-Discover The Old Tested ‘Favorite’ Perfumes Plus New Scents. Older established brands continue to “rock”…offering mood-altering sensuality, variations on strength and intensity as you move between full-bodies perfume and the lighter eau de toilettes. One-time hits…frilly youth-market perfumes…rarely survive the ‘long haul’ of brand building which the established perfume and fashion houses can best handle.

Tip #4 – Online Versus Department Store. If you don’t know or haven’t worn a particular fragrance, then you must try it on..live, in a store.

* Sample Selectively. Make sure never to try more than three perfumes during a shopping visit. Your nose will give-up, leaving you unable to distinguish the scents clearly.

* Consult Your Fragrance Sales Clerk. Also, remember that what you initially smell…namely the top notes…is the first part of the perfume that dissolves due to the normal ‘lifting’ of perfume by the air around you. So, to determine strength as well as the core scent of any perfume, you need to ask your sales clerk about each brand…what are its middle notes and bass notes…its strength measured in hours. And also describe how you intend to “normally” wear your perfume…on-the-job fragrances are not the same as formal night wear perfumes.

* The Online Re-Order Strategy. Once you know your favorite brands, then you’re set to search the Internet for the best perfume prices, seasonal sell downs, inventory clearances. Go to industry awards sites and learn about the most popular, most exotic award winning fragrances, perfumes and men’s colognes too.

Fragrance Bottom Line. With women’s perfume and men’s fragrances, you get what you pay for. There’s a world of subtle, mood altering and sensuous fragrances that can lift your sprit, complement your style, and increase your life’s romance.
